David is a real Xhicanx. He was really born east of the Los Angeles river, the true definition of a Xhicanx. Growing up, David also believed he was an American. Up until high school, David believed he was a Chicano and an American. No more. 

A Mexican in America is the story of David's realization that he is not an American; he is a Xhicanx.
